Come Lift Up Your Sorrows

Title: Come Lift Up Your Sorrows
Artist: Michael Card
Album: What's New 2007 Contemporary / The Hidden Face of God

When I heard this song the first time, I cried. It's my favorite song right now. It's full of hope, strength and faith. I'm currently playing it on repeat, 'cause I feel this song just speak to my heart. It is not whether you have sorrows or pain. I know everyone has sorrows, has pain. We are humans after all. But "what do we do with our sorrows and pain.?" - that's the question

I have been one person who easily gave up when I cannot stand the pressure. Or at least that was me before I met Jesus. After I met Christ, I have learnt to lay down all problems, fears and wounds, and He'll solve them for me.

I have learnt not to worry, and this song just spoke of all of that. This song reminds me of who is in control in life, who is the loving One in life, the Refuge, the Shelter, the Rock of Salvation. Most of all this song reminds me who we are - nothing without God, but so much more with God. I'm now laying every burden down at the foot of the cross. Trading my sorrows for Christ's blood. O so great the promise of the Lord! Praise to Your Name!

Come Lift Up Your Sorrows

If you are wounded, if you are alone,
If you are angry, if your heart is cold as stone,
If you have fallen and if you are weak,
Come find the worth of God
That only the suffering seek.

(Chorus)
Come lift up your sorrows
And offer your pain;
Come make a sacrifice
Of all your shame;
There in your wilderness
He's waiting for you
To worship Him with your wounds,
For He's wounded too.

He has not stuttered, and He has not lied
When He said, "Come unto me, you're not disqualified"
When your heavy laden, you may want to depart,
But those who know sorrow are closest to His heart.

In this most Holy Place
He's made a sacred space
For those who will enter in
And trust to cry out to Him;
You'll find no curtain there,
No reason left for fear;
There's perfect freedom here
To weep every unwept tear.

Miracle Maker

Title: Miracle Maker
Artist: Delirious?
Album: The Mission Bell

We sang this song yesterday in cell group. It has a very slow tune, because this song is about anticipation for the Miracle Maker. Patience - just waiting. Normally, I don't like this genre of song, but I have to admit that this song is very nice.

This song is more than waiting for Jesus, the Miracle Man. It's about surrender too. It says that life will change and God will rearrange me. The chorus also speaks of standing at the feet of Jesus. Humility. One touch is all I need, the woulds I feel, Healer. Submitting to God's promises.

And yes, miracles do happen when we believe and have faith. It's like the classic song by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston - "When You Believe". Mountains can move. And oh yes, Moses and the parting of the sea - that still can happen, if we just believe in the same Miracle Man.

Miracle Maker

I'm waiting here for my life to change,
When the waters stir You can rearrange me.
Just one touch is all I need,
I've nothing much but the wounds I feel,
I'm looking for the hand of the Miracle Man.

Holy, You are holy,
Who was and is and is to come.
Holy, You are holy,
Saviour, Healer,
I'm standing at the feet of the Miracle Maker.

I'm holding on, with Your life in mine,
Living water's come,
And You've rearranged me.

Holy, You are holy,
Who was and is and is to come.
Jesus, precious Jesus,
Thank You, Saviour,
I'm walking in the shoes of my Miracle Maker.
I'm standing with the faith of a Miracle Maker.

Blessed

Title: Blessed
Artist: Rachael Lampa
Album: Blessed: Best of Rachael Lampa

This song really speaks about how blessed we are. "For all the worst and all the best, I am blessed." I agree. It is not by the good things only that we are blessed, it's also with the bad things. The worst things. There's grace in the bad things too. They are still things. I'd rather have the bad things than have nothing at all, really.

I read this in Philip Yancey's prayer: the opposite of love is not hate - it's indifference. I guess his point is that God prefers someone confessing their hate than ignoring Him because of this hate. I would love the same.

I don't know how that's related, but I guess it just show you would rather have something bad (confession of hate) than nothing at all (ignorance due to hate). Anyways, this song speaks so greatly about how (even) ordinary people (or the less ordinary for the matter of fact) are truly blessed. Remember that we are living in the grace of God, and that's amazing in itself. =)

Blessed

(Verse 1)
I may never climb a mountain so I can see the world from there
I may never ride the waves and taste the salty ocean air
Or build a bridge, that would last a hundred years
But no matter where the road leads
One thing is always clear

(Chorus)
I am blessed, I am blessed
From when I rise up in the morning
Til I lay my head to rest
I feel You near me
You sooth me when I'm weary
Oh Lord, for all the worst and all the best
I am blessed

(Verse 2)
All along the road less traveled, I have crawled and I have run
I have wandered through the wind and rain until I found the sun
The watching eyes asked me why, I walked this narrow way
I will gladly give the reason
For the hope I have today

(Bridge)
You've given me joy
You've given me love
You give me strength when I want to give up
You came from Heaven to rescue my soul
This is the reason I know
I know

Hear My Cry

Title: Hear My Cry
Artist: Paradise
Album: Over & Over

This is a new song I love! I cannot help singing this song over and over now. The lyrics are of desperation, surrender, anticipation - some elements of the Lord's Prayer. And I think this song is perfect when you are praying, when you feel lost or when you are depressed, down, etc. If you sing your heart out for this song, it's a promise to God too that you will come, that you will be calling His name.

This song is easy to sing. I just listened it for about 4-5 times and I know almost every part of the song, including the lyrics. Enjoy!

Hear My Cry

(Verse)
I need You more than any other
I want You more than life itself
How I long for Your holy presence
Showing me Your tenderness

I love You, I will exalt forever
The power of Your sacrifice
I need You more than any other
I want You more than my life

(Pre-chorus)
I will give thanks for You are more than holy
I will give thanks for You are the One

(Chorus)
Hear my cry O my God
Give me more of You
Lord I come, I will call on Your name
Touch me now holy One
I'm so desperate for You
Lord I come, I will call on Your name

(Bridge)
Holy is the King enthroned forever
Holy is the Lord

Amazed

Title: Amazed
Artist: Jared Anderson
Album: Arise: A New Celebration of Worship

A simple, yet beautiful song. The words speak it all. Today, in Bible study, we learnt that there are so many things in life we take for granted. Yesterday's song, "Fields of Mercy" just shows us how vast God's mercy and grace are for us. And this song just praised God for His awesomeness.

It's a real simple song, and I think it's a great song to sing in church or in any fellowship. Stand in awe. Or just stand there speechless. I think that's why the song is so simple - words can't even describe the complete image of who Jesus is.

Amazed

You dance over me
While I am unaware
You sing all around
But I never hear the sound

Lord I'm amazed by You
Lord I'm amazed by You
Lord I'm amazed by You
How You love me

How wide
How deep
How great
Is Your love for me
